Danny Amendola returned to New England Friday for a charity event, where he called Patriots coach Bill Belichick the "best coach to ever coach the game."
Amendola, who played five seasons with the Pats, signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Dolphins last month. The 32-year-old wide reciever told ESPN Friday the Patriots' offer "wasn’t going to really come close to any of the other offers I had." Amendola had taken a pay cut three straight years to remain with the team.
So Amendola said he did what he had to do for his family, and accepted Miami's offer.

While Amendola praised Belichick as the best coach ever, he admitted playing for him could be hard.
"It's not easy, that's for sure. He's an a--h--- sometimes," Amendola told ESPN. "There were a lot of things I didn't like about playing for him, but I must say, the things I didn't like were all in regards to getting the team better, and I respected him. I didn't like practicing in the snow, I didn't like practicing in the rain, but that was going to make us a better football team and that was going to make me a better football player.
"It wasn't easy, and he'd be the first to admit, at the [Super Bowl] ring ceremony, that it wasn't easy playing for him. The silver lining was that we were at the ring ceremony."
A condensed version of Amendola's remarks would be a fitting entry for Belichick's Pro Football Hall of Fame plaque someday.
