Dannon replaces Cam Newton with Dak Prescott as NFL endorser image

Dannon Yogurt signed Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to an endorsement deal Thursday, the same day the company said it would no longer feature Panthers QB Cam Newton in ads, ESPN reports.

Dannon, an official NFL sponsor since 2015, plans to shoot a TV ad with Prescott this week in Dallas, according to the report. Prescott adds the yogurt brand to an endorsement roster that also includes Pepsi, Frito-Lay and Beats.

While Dannon will continue to pay Newton per terms of their deal, the company essentially ended its relationship with him the day after his sexist remarks toward a female reporter and said it is pulling ads featuring him. Asked by Jourdan Rodrigue, a Panthers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer, about receiver Devin Funchess, Newton laughed and responded, “It’s funny to hear a female talking about routes.”

Newton apologized later in the day on Thursday, but as far as Dannon was concerned, too much damage had already been done.
