The Cowboys can win the NFC East and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs with victory over the Commanders on Sunday.
That scenario was set up when the Eagles were upset by Arizona in Week 17.
Both Dallas and Philadelphia are tied atop the NFC East at 11-5 but the Cowboys hold the advantage with a better conference record than the Eagles.
Philadelphia won the division last year. If the Cowboys finish in first place, it would extend the streak of non-repeat champions in the NFC East to 19 seasons – the longest such streak in NFL history.
The Cowboys are coming off a 20-19 victory over Detroit in Week 17.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott is fourth in the NFL with 4,237 yards passing with a league-leading 32 touchdowns touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The Cowboys beat the Commanders 45-10 on Thanksgiving.
If the Cowboys win at Washington, they would play a wild card round playoff game against the No. 7 seed in the NFC. Dallas would also have potential home game in the divisional round with a wild card round win.
The Cowboys finished 8-0 at AT&T Stadium for its first perfect home record since the 1980-81 seasons, but they are just 2-5 on the road.
The Commanders fell to 4-12 with a 27-10 loss to the 49ers, who clinched the top seed in the NFC postseason. Quarterback Sam Howell threw a pair of interceptions and leads the NFL with 19 on the season.
Washington has lost seven consecutive gams and are in line for the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
