The Commanders are starting fresh in 2024.
In the first season under new team owner Josh Harris, Washington finished with a disappointing 4-13 record. But Harris knew it would take a season to evaluate the franchise and adjust accordingly, and he did just that this offseason.
The Commanders fired head coach Ron Rivera at the end of the season and immediately hired two prominent executives — former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers and former Vikings GM Rick Spielman — to put a new regime in place.
First, Washington's brain trust hired 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters as the GM. Then it hired Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as its new head coach.
Last, but certainly not least, the Commanders selected LSU Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels as their franchise quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With a second-year ownership group, a new general manager, a new head coach, and a future star rookie quarterback, Washington is ready to start its rebuild this season.
Here's how the Commanders 2024 schedule shakes out, along with a breakdown of their matchups.

Commanders prediction 2024
Commanders Super Bowl odds courtesy BetMGM (+15000)
Toughest tests: Automatic home and away matchups against NFC East foes like Dallas and Philadelphia do the Commanders no favors. Washington went 0-6 against division opponents last season. On top of that, the AFC North was the best division in football last season. The Browns, Ravens and Steelers all made the playoffs, while Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow will return from injury this season. Finally, a road matchup against the Buccaneers and home matchup against the new-look Bears could pose a tougher threat than you'd think.
Biggest breaks: The Giants got the Commanders twice last season, but Washington will gladly welcome that home and away matchup again this season. Home games against the Panthers and Titans are favorable, and road games against the Cardinals and Saints could be worse. A home game against Kirk Cousins and the Falcons could go either way.
Bottom line: The Commanders aren't expected to contend for the NFC East crown or a Super Bowl title in Daniels' first season. This year is all about getting their new franchise quarterback reps and building on his progress for the future. Washington's season shouldn't be judged in wins and losses as much as it is making sure Daniels is in a position to succeed sooner rather than later.
Record prediction: 5-12
