When the Chiefs (8-3) travel to face the Packers (5-6) on "Sunday Night Football" (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC) for Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season, it will be the reigning Super Bowl champs from the AFC facing a wild-card hopeful from the NFC.
This also is a rematch of Super Bowl 1 and Patrick Mahomes' first visit to Lambeau Field. He will duel Jordan Love, who's been sharp the past two weeks in a home win vs. the Chargers and a road victory at the Lions on Thanksgiving. Mahomes was in a mild slump with limited passing pop around him, but he got rolling in Las Vegas last week.
The Packers' defense is trying to hold itself together with key injuries. The Chiefs' defense has been stingy all season but gets a tough test here after showing some leaks vs. the Raiders.
Here's a betting breakdown and prediction for the latest SNF matchup:
Chiefs vs. Packers odds, spread, over/under
(All odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook)
Spread: Chiefs -6 (-110) | Packers +6 (-110)
Over/Under: OVER 42.5 (-110) | UNDER 42.5 (-110)
Moneyline: Chiefs -260 | Packers +210
The Chiefs have been six-point favorites all week. They looked like they wouldn't cover in Las Vegas before coming back and pulling away. The Packers were underdogs against Los Angeles and Detroit and came through both times with outright wins.
Should you bet the Chiefs against the spread vs. Packers?
Mahomes and the offense aren't facing the most daunting overall defense, but Lambeau is still a tough place to play in December in the cold. The Chiefs are used to the weather at home, but the key for them here is sticking with the running game to take advantage of a great power-rushing matchup for Isiah Pacheco. They will look to set up big plays downfield from running well.
The Packers are more comfortable letting Love loose with throws all over the field and they can have some success in the power running game, too, as AJ Dillon's style can be a challenge for the Chiefs. Love has enough weaponry to put up some stats when trailing and lead to the backdoor cover.
Spread pick: Packers +6 (-110)
Should you bet the Packers on the moneyline?
The Packers did win as more than touchdown underdogs on the road against the Lions, so this would be pulling off a similar feat in consecutive weeks. The Packers are an improving young team and well coached, but the experienced Chiefs have too much for them overall in terms of offensive and defensive playmakers.
Moneyline pick: Chiefs -260
Should you bet the Chiefs-Packers OVER?
The Chiefs will come through with their part, and the Packers will have more success than expected with Love staying on track by spreading the ball around and leaning well on the run to open things up. That adds up to clearing the rather low total without much issue.
Our Pick: OVER 42.5 (-260)
Final score prediction: Chiefs 27, Packers 24
