Chargers vs. Jets Week 9 MNF odds, picks, predictions, expert betting tips for 'Monday Night Football' image

When the Chargers fly across the country to face the Jets to close Week 9 on "Monday Night Football" (8:15 p.m. ET), they will be looking to win a second straight prime-time game to get back to .500. While Los Angeles (3-4) is a disappointing game below .500, New York has overachieved without Aaron Rodgers to get a game above .500.

Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, and Keenan Allen present a tough offensive trio for a stellar Jets' defense. Meanwhile, Zach Wilson, Breece Hall, and Garrett Wilson will get to go to work against a beatable Chargers' defense.

Here's what to expect when L.A. meets N.Y. on MNF in an all-AFC affair:

Chargers vs. Jets odds, spread, over/under

(All odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook)

Spread: Chargers -3.5 (-110) | Jets +3.5 (-110)
Over/Under: OVER 40 (-110) | UNDER 40 (-110)
Moneyline: Chargers -178 | Jets +150

The Chargers took care of business at home in a get-well game last Sunday night against the Bears. The Jets have been hot, rallying in improbable conditions to knock off the Giants for their third consecutive win. The Chargers, however, are favored with the considerable edge at QB, Herbert vs. Wilson.

Should you bet the Chargers against the spread vs. the Jets?

The Chargers have not fared the best in close games with coach Brandon Staley. They have lost nail-biters to the Dolphins, Titans, and Cowboys. They were able to survive in one such game, beating the Vikings in Minnesota.

Meanwhile, the Jets have been rolling with confidence. They've beaten the Broncos, Eagles, and Giants the past three games after pushing the Chiefs to the limit at home in prime time in Week 4.

Our Pick: Jets +3.5 (-110)

Should you bet the Jets on the moneyline?

The Jets have the better defense. They can have trouble with Ekeler, but they are built to get after Herbert and contain Allen. The Jets also can feel confident that they can ride Garrett Wilson and Hall to the needed big plays, getting more than the Chargers can produce from their side.

Staley isn't getting his defense right and struggles in these types of games. Coaching counterpart Robert Saleh's makeup and personnel make the difference.

Our Pick: Jets (+150)

Should you bet the Chargers-Jets OVER?

There's just a little too much offensive firepower around the two quarterbacks to think this will be a boring, low-scoring game. Herbert makes a few mistakes while pressured and facing tough coverage, while Wilson, Wilson, and Hall once again come through with efficiency all over the field. The Jets soar to a fourth win with their offense continuing to improve.

Our Pick: OVER 40 (-110)

Final score prediction: Jets 24, Chargers 20
