Carson Wentz's knee injury is worse than initially believed, but that won't delay his return.

The Eagles quarterback said Friday he tore the LCL as well as the ACL in his left knee late in a Week 14 win over the Rams. He still expects to be ready for the 2018 regular-season opener in September.

"I’m aiming for Week 1," Wentz told reporters as his teammates continue preparations for Super Bowl 52. "The rehab schedule doesn't change a whole lot. I'm feeling very confident with it.

"I 100 percent believe I'll be back better than ever, stronger than ever, with no looking back."

Despite missing the final three games of the regular season, Wentz threw for 3,296 yards and was second in the NFL in touchdown passes with 33 to just seven interceptions.

Nick Foles has stepped in for Wentz and threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns in the 38-7 rout of the Vikings in the NFC championship game. Wentz said he's trying to "help in any way" he can as Foles gets ready to face the Patriots.
