Larry Fitzgerald's athletic skills extend beyond the football field.
The Cardinals wide receiver made history Sunday as he and PGA Tour pro Kevin Streelman won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am team title by 7 strokes with a 12-under final round.
With the victory, Fitzgerald became the first African-American amateur to win the team title part of the longtime tournament. Cardinals media relations also noted that Fitzgerald is the seventh pro athlete to win but the first since Dan Marino in 1988.
"It's great, but I'm just hoping moving forward we don't have to talk about color anymore," Fitzgerald told reporters, via ESPN . "It's just us as one as a people. Just to be here is an accomplishment. But that's quite an accomplishment.
"Just being completely out of my comfort zone, not being a professional, just kind of dealing with what comes. That's what I think made it special for me, is that this game is so difficult. I just think you even have more respect for the guys who win and play consistently at a high level because it's the hardest game out there."
Fitzgerald, 34, has been mum about whether he will return for his 15th NFL season in 2018 and still doesn't have a timetable on his retirement decision. He hauled in 109 passes for 1,156 yards and six touchdowns for Arizona last season.
