The Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers renew their in-state rivalry with a key matchup that has postseason implications in Week 16.

With a 23-7 loss to the Ravens on Sunday, the Jaguars are in a three-way tie for supremacy in the AFC South along with Indianapolis and Houston. However, Jacksonville currently owns the tiebreakers against those two teams and is still the fourth seed in the AFC playoff race.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was placed into the concussion protocol following the game against the Ravens at EverBank Stadium. He was injured on the team's final possession, and his status for the game against the Buccaneers is uncertain. Lawrence has made 48 consecutive starts since being drafted first overall in 2021. C.J. Beathard is Jacksonville's backup QB.

Lawrence completed 25 of 43 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens. However, he lost two fumbles that Baltimore turned into 10 points. The Jaguars (8-6) likely cannot afford another loss if they want to maintain their hold on a postseason berth.

The Buccaneers (7-7) picked up a key, 34-20 victory over the Packers last week. Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for 381 passing yards and four touchdowns, becoming the second quarterback in NFL history (Aaron Rodgers) to post a perfect passer rating (158.3) at Lambeau Field. The Buccaneers had a balanced offense with 28 passes and 27 runs.

Tampa Bay (7-7) occupies the fourth seed in the NFC playoffs and owns the tiebreaker over New Orleans based on head-to-head win percentage.
