The Buccaneers have fired Dirk Koetter, the team announced Sunday.

“We sincerely appreciate the hard work and commitment shown by Dirk over the past several years," Buccaneers owner Joel Glazer said in a statement. "Working with Dirk has been a pleasure and we wish him and his family all the best in the future. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately and will be conducted by General Manager Jason Licht.”
The news is not surprising, as Koetter had been on the proverbial hot seat for most of the season. The Bucs finished 9-7 in his first year at the helm in 2016, but they were 5-11 last year and again in 2018. They finished this season with a 34-32 loss to the Falcons at home Sunday.
The Bucs entered the day third in the NFL in yards per game (414.3), but were only 13th in the league in scoring (24.3 points per game). And the Bucs were horrid on defense, ranking 30th in the NFL in points allowed (28.7 ppg).
