Every Wednesday, Sporting News Canada will give recommendations of who to play in your lineup. Here are this week’s suggestions.

Quarterback

Drew Brees, Saints vs. Bears. Chicago's defense has looked good lately, but it was torched for four passing touchdowns on the road by Green Bay's similarly dynamic passing attack in Week 4. New Orleans is always better at home, and Brees could be set up with good field position much of the game.

Carson Wentz, Eagles vs. 49ers. He's established himself as one of the most consistent QBs in fantasy, and the 49ers have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to QBs.

Cam Newton, Panthers @ Buccaneers. Newton is always a high-risk, high-reward pick, but virtually every QB has put up big numbers against the Bucs. Tampa is allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to QBs.

Running back

Le'Veon Bell, Steelers at Lions. Bell will get plenty of touches against a Lions defense that was just shredded by New Orleans' backs and also has had problems with good pass-catchers out of the backfield, such as David Johnson, Devonta Freeman/Tevin Coleman and Christian McCaffrey.

Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys at Redskins. The Cowboys are going to run Elliott while they have him, so take advantage while you can. He carved up Washington for 180 yards and three TDs in two games last season.

Melvin Gordon, Chargers at Patriots. Gordon is the most likely back in any given week to get into the end zone because of how the Chargers use him near the goal line. Against New England's soft defense, he'll pile up yards running and receiving, too.

Wide receiver

Antonio Brown, Steelers at Lions. Given Brown's targets and talent level, it's tough not put him No. 1 every single week. The Lions pass defense Isn't bad, but stopping Brown is a near-impossible task for any team.

A.J. Green, Bengals vs. Colts. Green's three-game TD streak was stopped in Week 7 against Pittsburgh, but he'll start a new one against the lowly Colts, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to WRs.

Julio Jones, Falcons at Jets. The Falcons know they need to get the ball to Jones more, and it's going to start happening. The Jets have given up three WR touchdowns in two different games this year, so there's potential for a monster game from Julio this week.

Pass Offense

Saints vs. Bears. Few teams pass more often or more effectively. If the Saints are at home, they're always in play.

Chargers at Patriots. Philip Rivers and Co. take the league's eighth-ranked passing attack to New England to face the league's 32nd-ranked pass defense. Backs, receivers, tight ends – there are just too many capable receiving options for the Pats to cover.

Eagles vs. 49ers. The only worry here is that Philadelphia will run all over the Niners and won't need to pass as much, but the matchup is too good to resist for a big-play, high-TD passing offense like Philly's.

Run Offense

Cowboys at Redskins. With Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott, Dallas always has to be considered a top pick here as long as the matchup isn't too brutal. A Washington defense allowing four yards per carry is good, but not good enough to scare us away from the Cowboys.

Bears at Saints. Chicago is going to try to run 30-plus times in this game, getting multiple backs and even QB Mitchell Trubisky involved. The Saints are giving up 4.9 yards per carry, so as long as Chicago doesn't fall behind big early, it will rack up yards on the ground.

Dolphins at Ravens. Jay Ajayi has disappointed this year, but he should get the ball 20-plus times against a Ravens defense that's allowed the most rushing yards this season.

Defense

Vikings vs. Browns. The Browns have already thrown 17 INTs this year, and a trip to the UK to play Minnesota's ferocious defense isn't going to fix that. Expect more turnovers and few points.

Eagles vs. 49ers. Philadelphia is tied for fifth in takeaways, and this week it gets a rookie QB in his first road start who just got sacked five times and lost two fumbles. The cross-country trip won't help.

Bengals vs. Colts. The Colts allow a lot of sacks, which is the main thing Cincinnati does well offensively. Expect a few turnovers to go along with the sacks with Cincinnati at home.

Special Teams/Kicker

Eagles vs. 49ers. Jake Elliott has established himself as a steady option with long-range capability, and he should get plenty of scoring chances against San Francisco.

Bills vs. Raiders. Buffalo is often a "field-goal offense," and the Raiders are among the top-five teams in giving up fantasy points to kickers, so Stephen Hauschka should have another good day.

Chiefs vs. Broncos. Kansas City's return men are as dangerous as it gets, and Harrison Butker is a solid kicking option. Denver won't completely shut down K.C.'s attack, so Butker will get chances.
