Best NFL Prop Bets Week 2: Justin Fields, Josh Jacobs highlight our experts' picks image

Week 2 of the NFL season kicked off Thursday, and we have 15 games remaining between now and Monday night. Plenty of must-see games stand out in this weekend's schedule, and plenty of betting value can be found on the player prop market. As we do every Friday, my SN Bets colleagues and I have picked our 12 favorite SuperDraft player props from the Sunday and Monday slates.

The concept is simple: each week, the four of us each pick our three favorite player props from the upcoming weekend's games. We research the matchups, dive into the betting trends, and handpick the wagers that yield the most value. Along the way, we will keep a weekly record of each of our successes and failures, and of course reveal our updated standings every week.

Last week, yours truly stood out from the pack with a perfect 3-0 record. Austin Ekeler easily cruised past his receiving yard total (33.5) by 13.5, Derek Carr totaled 305 passing yards when all we needed from him was 244, and Nico Collins hauled in six catches to best his receptions total (3.5). Each of my colleagues hit on a prop, too — but let's just say they'll be playing catch-up this weekend.

Here are the early standings for Week 1 of our SN Bets SuperDraft Prop Contest:

Expert Record
Sloan Piva 3-0
Vinnie Iyer 1-2
Nick Musial 1-2
Nick Brinkerhoff 1-2

All in a week's work, ladies and gentlemen! Let's see if I can keep that momentum rolling into Week 2, and if the guys can rebound from a frustrating Week 1. In their defense, nobody in their right mind would have expected a Dallas Goedert goose egg in New England or a Saquon Barkley stinkfest in the Giants' home-opener. Sometimes, weird stuff just happens in Week 1.

But alas, it's time to move forward and make some money in Week 2. If you're not familiar with SuperDraft, there has never been a better time to jump in. SD's Fantasy Props feature allows users to win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. The more legs users add to their player prop parlay, the larger the potential payout becomes. But as the long odds indicate, completing a clean sweep is challenging.

That's where we come in. Our panel of experts will do the leg work, pitch our favorite props, and let you do the rest. You can window-shop our recommendations as you please and bet as few or as many of our prop picks as you see fit. Our lucky number with player prop parlays seems to be three (6X payout), but sometimes we'll put a higher stake on a two-prop parlay (3X) or a lotto-ticket wager on an eight-legger (100X).

Let's get to it. Below we will detail our 12 favorite SuperDraft player props for this weekend's NFL games. Good luck, have fun, and enjoy Week 2!

NFL Prop Picks Week 2: Our experts' favorite SuperDraft bets

Justin Fields, QB, Bears at Buccaneers — OVER 174.5 passing yards (Sloan Piva)

The Bears have made it abundantly clear that they want Fields attempting more than 21.2 passes per game like he did in 2022. They got their wish in Week 1 against the Packers, when the third-year QB finished with 24 completions on 37 attempts. That’s the second-most passes and completions he has logged in a game in his 28-game career — and he might throw even more this week against the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay’s defense often sells out to stop the run, and we’d bet the house on the Bucs’ strong linebacking corps lurking to prevent Fields from burning them with his legs. Todd Bowles’ squad surrendered just 41 total rushing yards to the Vikings last week, but Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and company carved Tampa up for 328 yards through the air.

The Bucs lost defensive back Sean Murphy-Bunting to the Titans in the offseason, cornerback Carlton Davis III has an injured toe, and free safety Christian Izien is in the concussion protocol. We love Fields to obliterate this over/under in what should be a mini-shootout at Raymond James Stadium.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Raiders at Bills — OVER 68.5 rushing yards (Nick Musial)

While the volume was there for Jacobs in Week 1 (19 carries), the efficiency was not (2.5 YPC). Although there’s a chance the Raiders are scripted out of relying on the ground game as 9.5-point road underdogs in Buffalo, we’ll take our chances of Jacobs totaling 69-plus rushing yards in Week 2.

Jacobs remains one of the toughest running backs to take down on first contact and should have success against a Bills defense that allowed 172 yards on 6.1 yards per carry to a rather one-dimensional Jets offense.

MORE SUPERDRAFT DFS & FANTASY PROPS: How to play SuperDraft

Nico Collins, WR, Texans vs. Colts — OVER 47.5 receiving yards (Nick Brinkerhoff)

Collins led the Texans in targets in Week 1 with 11. He managed to bring in six of them, good enough for an 80 yard performance on the day. This week, he faces a Colts’ secondary that was shredded by Calvin Ridley. According to PFF, most of those targets came 10-19 yards down the field, while he was unable to bring in two deep shots. Quickly becoming C.J. Stroud’s favorite receiver, Collins is in for a big day. He won’t have any problems getting at least 48 yards in Week 2.

Dameon Pierce, RB, Texans vs. Colts — OVER 55.5 rushing yards (Vinnie Iyer)

The Colts were rather generous on the ground in Week 1 when the Jaguars chose to run. Pierce got only 11 attempts for 38 yards with a negative game script against the Ravens. Pierce was more effective at home as a rookie, and Houston has a good chance to beat Indianapolis with C.J. Stroud moving the ball with his wideouts. Playing off that, we project Pierce's floor at 15 carries and 60 yards.

Jared Goff, QB, Lions vs. Seahawks — OVER 267.5 passing yards (Piva)

Another QB prop — I woke up feeling dangerous after my picks went undefeated last week. But how can you not love Goff at home against an abysmal Seahawks secondary? Former Lion Matthew Stafford enjoyed a vintage performance in Seattle last week, recording 334 passing yards on 24 completions (13.9 yards per completion). And Goff and company just knocked off reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes and the  defending-champion Chiefs at Arrowhead.

Even worse for Pete Carroll, the Seahawks’ offensive line is hurtin’ for certain, with both starting tackles likely missing in action this Sunday. Right tackle Abraham Lucas hit the IR (knee), while left tackle Charles Cross hurt his big toe and Carroll said it will be a “challenge” for him to play. That just means Geno Smith will have trouble holding onto the ball at Ford Field, especially after the Lions’ surprising pass-rushing performance in the league-opener two Thursdays ago.

With Goff and the Lions well-rested and likely dominating the time of possession — and Amon-Ra St. Brown looking healthy and as dominant as ever — we project Detroit to rack up 275-plus passing yards. Add some steam to the 2023 Motown hype train and smash that OVER!

Derrick Henry, RB, Titans vs. Chargers — UNDER 87.5 rushing yards (Musial)

In what was mainly a neutral game script for Tennessee, it was startling to see Henry play only 48 percent of the Titans' offensive snaps. Rookie RB Tyjae Spears out-snapped him 34-30, which worries us for Henry’s chances of going OVER 87.5 rushing yards this week.

Along with a decreased workload, we expect the Chargers' defense to key in on being gap-sound to stop the run, forcing Tannehill to beat them with his arm.

Jahan Dotson, WR, Commanders at Broncos — OVER 42.5 receiving yards (Brinkerhoff)

Ever hear of Pat Surtain II? That guy is a pretty good cornerback, but the good news, especially for us, is that he’ll be tormenting Terry McLaurin on Sunday. Dotson plays mostly in the slot, an area of the field Surtain rarely finds himself. And with McLaurin in for a long day, someone has to step up.

The former Penn State receiver led the Commanders receiving room in targets last week with seven, coming in second on the team to only tight end Logan Thomas. Still, Dotson brought in five catches for 40 yards. With McLaurin out of the picture, Dotson and Sam Howell will connect early and often in the Mile High City.

Chris Olave, WR, Saints at Panthers — OVER 70.5 receiving yards (Iyer)

Olave destroyed the Panthers last season and even with Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed being big factors for Derek Carr in Week 1, there’s no doubt Olave remains the dominant No. 1 in New Orleans.

Olave gets a huge break with Jaycee Horn out for Carolina as he can go to work on Donte Jackson and C.J. Henderson. Olave is an alpha in every which way to have a lot more second-year performances like his 8 catches, 11 targets and 112 yards vs. the Titans.

Dalton Kincaid, TE, Bills vs. Raiders — OVER 29.5 receiving yards (Piva)

Everything besides Stefon Diggs seemed to go haywire for the Bills against the Jets on Monday, but at least Kincaid looked pretty good out there. The rookie tight end hauled in all four of his targets and appeared to get open downfield on a handful of additional routes.

Now, granted, Kincaid finished with only 26 total yards on the night — but Josh Allen also threw three interceptions to friggin’ Jordan Whitehead. Allen had just 236 passing yards, 31.7 fewer than his per-game average in 2022. If the Bills QB cleaned it up even a little in that deplorable second-half performance, Kincaid likely would have cruised to 30-plus air yards.

We’re all-in on DK this weekend. Buffalo ran a two-tight end set on nearly 60 percent of its offensive snaps in Week 1, and Kincaid ran 38 total routes. That number ties T.J. Hockenson’s NFL record for the most routes run in a single game by a rookie tight end. The Raiders at home should be a cake walk compared to the Jets on the road, and we like Kincaid to be a big part of the Bills’ bounce-back.

Justin Fields, QB, Bears at Buccaneers — OVER 59.5 rushing yards (Musial)

We hope that offensive coordinator Luke Getsy devises a gameplan that doesn't rely solely on Fields throwing short, especially since only three of his 37 pass attempts traveled 10-plus yards in Week 1. Still, even if the Bears employ a more vertical passing game this week, his subpar pass protection likely results in Fields bailing out of the pocket at a high clip.

Even when Green Bay rushed four last week, they consistently got into the Bears' backfield, so you know Todd Bowles and company are licking their chops at the chance to pressure Fields at will.

Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers at Titans — OVER 67.5 receiving yards (Brinkerhoff)

Allen remains firmly atop the Chargers depth chart at receiver and played like it once again on Sunday. In a track meet with the Dolphins, Allen was targeted nine times, hauling in six catches for 76 yards. The Chargers probably won’t have to score 34 points again this week to keep up with an anemic Titans’ offense, but the Chargers have a tendency to make these games interesting.

With Austin Ekeler likely sidelined, Justin Herbert might have to go to the air more often against a bad Titans secondary that was exposed by Chris Olave. Trust the Chargers to “charger” and rely on the WR1 in Kellen Moore’s offense to keep producing.

Gabe Davis, WR, Bills vs. Raiders — OVER 42.5 receiving yards (Iyer)

Davis has a juicy cornerback matchup outside against a bad Raiders’ group. Davis had only 4 targets against the Jets and managed only 2 catches against tough coverage. But he still got to 32 yards. Josh Allen can hit on more big plays to him to easily tack on at least 11 more yards.
