Pace has been GM of the Bears since 2015. He had previously spent 14 years in the Saints' front office before moving to Chicago.

"I’m going to continue to do everything in my power to get the best coaches and staff in place to make this city proud," Pace said Monday in his press conference. "I understand the results on the field are also a result of me and I have to do a better job."

The Bears also fired head coach John Fox on Monday. Pace said rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky could be in the decision-making process to find a new coach by saying it was something they're "evaluating".

"It’s on us to continue to surround our young quarterback with the talent he needs to succeed," Pace said. "We’re in a position understanding that if we need to be aggressive we will."

Chicago (5-11) finished last in the NFC North after losing seven of its last nine games.
