Is Anthony Richardson playing this week? Injury update, fantasy outlook for Colts' QB ahead of Week 6 vs. Titans image

It's been an up-and-down season for second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. At times, he's looked like the explosive, dynamic playmaker that he's been expected to be. But on the flip side, he's struggled with his accuracy as a passer and is already dealing with injuries.

After leading the Colts on two straight 70-plus yard drives to open the game in Week 4, Richardson suffered an oblique injury and was unable to return. He was replaced by Joe Flacco, who also started in Week 5 while Richardson remained sidelined.

Flacco has been highly productive in relief of Richardson, leading to many wondering if he should remain the starter in future weeks. To the dismay of Flacco's supporters, head coach Shane Steichen has indicated that Richardson will reclaim his job when he's healthy. The question becomes, when will he be able to suit up?

Will Anthony Richardson play this week? Injury update on Colts' QB

UPDATE: Richardson has officially been ruled out for Week 6.

With the decision on Richardson's status coming down to the wire, there's a strong chance that he will be healthy for Week 7. Be sure to monitor practice reports to get an idea of his availability.

Colts' QB Depth Chart: Who is Who is Anthony Richardson's Backup?

As previously mentioned, it's been veteran Joe Flacco under center while Richardson has been injured. He's been quite productive while he's been on the field, throwing for 527 yards in just over seven quarters of play.

If Richardson faces a setback, expect Flacco to lead the offense once again. The seasoned vet has shown a strong connection with the Colts' wide receivers and would have no issue stepping in once again.

Anthony Richardson fantasy outlook Week 6

Richardson will be unavailable for fantasy managers in Week 6, but some teams may be interested in starting him upon his return. It's been an up-and-down season for Richardson as both a "real life" NFL quarterback and as a fantasy asset. He scored 27.1 fantasy points in Week 1 but followed it up with 20 points combined in Weeks 2 and 3.

Richardson's greatest issue has been accuracy. He has completed just 51 percent of his passes on the year and over a quarter of his attempts have been deemed to be off target. Until he finds his groove as a passer, it will be hard for him to be a reliable fantasy option.
