Julius Randle has reportedly solidified himself as a part of the New York Knicks' long-term plan.

According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Randle has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $117 million with the Knicks.

Randle is coming off of a breakout campaign that saw him average career-bests across the board with 24.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game, all while averaging a league-high 37.6 minutes in 71 of a possible 72 contests. He improved from an efficiency standpoint, too, knocking down 2.3 triples per contest at a 41.1 percent clip and shooting a career-high 81.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Through his play, Randle earned the first All-Star selection of his career, earned Second Team All-NBA honours and was named Most Improved Player for the 2020-21 NBA season. More importantly, Randle propelled the Knicks to a 41-31 record and the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, snapping an eight-year postseason drought.

In securing Randle long-term, the Knicks continue an offseason of building.

After a successful season, New York has worked to bring the majority of its core pieces back, reportedly reaching agreements with free agents Alec Burks, Taj Gibson, Nerlens Noel and Derrick Rose. The team has also reportedly reached an agreement with free-agent guard Evan Fournier and is reportedly set to add four-time All-Star Kemba Walker, pending a contract buyout with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Randle, who will turn 27 this upcoming season, is a key piece to bridge the gap between the Knicks' young talent and the veterans they have in tow.
