MORE: Three takeaways from UCF's Peach Bowl win over Auburn
Of course UCF won’t have a chance to compete for a national title this year, but the team’s Twitter account had a clever reaction after their undefeated season:
Hey @cfbplayoff, who's next? ⚔️ pic.twitter.com/5Y0cYkoDRg

The Knights have certainly come a long way.
Just two seasons ago, UCF was 0-12.
Amazing: 51 players on this year’s UCF team were on the team that went winless in 2015 (0-12). Two years later, they finish a perfect 13-0. pic.twitter.com/1Juq5gHj5p

Twitter tried to make sense of the team not making the College Football Playoff this season:
So, UCF, the only undefeated team in the country, just beat a team that beat two teams that are currently in the college football playoff. We talk about conferences, strength of schedule, rankings.. BS. If you’re a well coached team, you can play with anyone. Period. #PeachBowl

UCF is 13-0 after beating Auburn, but had no shot to compete for the National Championship. Every game counts, huh? Not so much. Scott Frost and UCF should’ve been in the playoff.

UCF is the first FBS team in the Playoff era to finish a season undefeated. #ChargeOn

The biggest indictment of the committee isn’t that UCF wasn’t in the playoff. It’s that the supposed football gurus moved them from 18 to 12 over the course of the season even as they were crushing. It’s just stupid.

Here is the think about UCF, I am not saying they would have won the ship, but what makes the NCAA Bball so great the cinderella aspect of it.
— Robert Littal (@BSO) January 1, 2018
Consider this: that Auburn defense played every team in the SEC West, played Clemson, played Georgia twice, and never allowed a team to get to 30 points. Clemson, Bama & Georgia first time scored 14, 14, 17. UCF just hung 34 & missed 2 chip shot FGs.
