Texas wide receiver Joshua Moore faces a misdemeanor gun charge stemming from an incident in early July, according to multiple reports.
Moore was arrested on July 5 in downtown Austin and charged with unlawful carrying of a gun, according to ESPN. He was released on $6,000 bond.
His trial date, originally scheduled for Aug. 22, has been moved to Sept. 23, according to the Dallas Morning News.
"We're aware of the situation with Joshua Moore," Texas coach Tom Herman said in a statement to the Austin American-Statesman. "We have talked with him and his family and are handling this internally at this time, but will continue to monitor the legal process. We will determine any further action upon the completion of that process."
According to the reports, Moore was seen walking between two cars in a parking lot and remove a gun from his waistband. He appeared to load the gun and slide the gun back in his waistband, which prompted police to arrest him at gunpoint.
Moore caught seven passes for 53 yards and a touchdown in four games last year as a freshman before an injury ended his season. He has been practicing with the Longhorns as he waits for the legal process to finish.
