Another week, another single-possession victory for Oklahoma. But this time, the sixth-ranked Sooners came up with the biggest comeback in the history of the Red River Showdown, overcoming a 28-7 first-half deficit to beat No. 21 Texas 55-48 on a 33-yard touchdown run by Kennedy Brooks with three seconds left.
Moreover, Oklahoma benched its starting quarterback, Spencer Rattler, in favor of backup Caleb Williams, who scored three combined touchdowns in the come-from-behind victory to make it four in a row in this series for Oklahoma.

That Oklahoma could even come back in this game is a wonder, considering the Longhorns jumped out to a 14-0 lead in less than two minutes. But the Sooners managed to keep Texas within striking distance, never letting the Longhorns run away with it. Williams provided a much-needed spark in place of Rattler, who for the second time in as many Red River Showdowns was benched after throwing an incompletion and fumbling.
Williams completed 16 of 25 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns of 14 and 52 yards, both to Marvin Mims (five receptions, 136 yards, two touchdowns). Williams also had a huge, 66-yard rushing touchdown on fourth-and-1 to make the score 28-14 Texas on the first play of the second quarter. Running back Kennedy Brooks was similarly dominant, rushing 25 times for 217 yards and two touchdowns of 18 and 33 yards, both in the fourth quarter.

Oklahoma receiver Marvin Mims was the top Sooners target of the day, catching five passes for 136 yards and two scores. Kicker Gabe Brkic was impactful too, completing all four kicks from 40, 35, 29 and 26 yards, respectively.
On the Texas side, quarterback Casey Thompson completed 20 of 34 passes for 388 yards and five touchdowns. Bijan Robinson ran 20 times for 137 yards and a score; receivers Xavier Worthy (nine receptions, 261 yards, two touchdowns) and Joshua Moore (four receptions, 70 yards, two touchdowns) had big games as well.

3:50 p.m.: Texas gets a short return to the Longhorns' 40. They have 2:55 to get 60 yards and a score.
3:50 p.m.: Timeout, Texas, (3:04).
3:49 p.m.: Williams fumbles the snap, has to backtrack several yards to get it and just manages to get it out to Brooks. Texas manages to stop him for a 1-yard gain, bringing up a punt.
3:49 p.m.: Sooners have hit third-and-10 from their 24. Pivotal play here with 3:20 remaining.
3:47 p.m.: False start makes it first-and-15 Oklahoma, but down and distance has not mattered for the Sooners today.
3:46 p.m.: TURNOVER ON DOWNS, TEXAS. Thompson tried to hit Robinson up the seam, but overthrew him. Oklahoma takes over on downs at the 24 with Texas only having two timeouts remaining.
3:45 p.m.: Timeout, Texas (4:44).
3:44 p.m.: Texas can't connect on third-and-11. It's now fourth down from the 24 with 4:44 left.
3:42 p.m.: And now Thompson finds Worthy for a 48-yard gain deep into Oklahoma territory, at the 23!
3:42 p.m.: Texas back at it from its 25. In need of a score and gets 4 yards from Worthy on first down. Time still not a factor yet.
3:36 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, OKLAHOMA. Brooks takes the direct snap and rolls in untouched for the 18-yard touchdown. Incredible. It's 48-41 Oklahoma with 7:10 left in the game.
What is going on… Oklahoma now has the lead. Kennedy Brooks goes 18 yards for the TD. Great blocking by the offensive line.

3:33 p.m.: Texas tries to get a big play going on the kick return but is brought down at the 18. Should have stayed in the end zone to get out to the 25.
3:31 p.m.: That's four straight scoring drives for Oklahoma (two touchdowns, two field goals) and two straight three-and-outs for Texas.
3:29 p.m.: 2-POINT CONVERSION, OKLAHOMA. Riley brings Rattler back in; he rolls right and finds Drake Stoops for the conversion. That ties the game at 41-41 with 7:25 left to play.
3:28 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, OKLAHOMA. Williams gets just enough time to throw a 52-yard touchdown to Mims. He barely gets his foot inbounds to set up the play. That makes it 41-39 Texas ahead of a 2-point conversion attempt.

3:27 p.m.: It's now third-and-19 for Oklahoma.
3:25 p.m.: The pressure nearly gets to Williams, who chucks it to Brooks; Foster comes up to make the backle for a loss back at the Oklahoma 48, though that will only be seen after review. If the play stands as called on the field, Oklahoma will face third-and-5.
3:24 p.m.: Williams scrambles for the first down, but it's coming back after a holding penalty against Chris Hannon. It's second-and-14 now at the Texas 47.
3:23 p.m.: Caleb Williams finds Mario Williams for a 13-yard gain to the Texas 43. Another first down.
3:22 p.m.: A shoestring tackle by Luke Brockermeyer keeps Brooks from breaking a big gain. It's second-and-6 from the 44.
3:19 pm.: Mims calls a fair catch at the Oklahoma 40 yard-line following the 50-yard punt. Texas needs a stop now.
3:18 p.m.: The pressure gets to Thompson, who seems to slip on his throw, resulting in an incompletion. And now Whittington is hurt.
3:17 p.m.: Danny Stutsman blitzes and hits his mark, sacking Thompson for an 8-yard loss back to the 10.
3:17 p.m.: Texas takes over at its 18-yard line and now needs to score to keep Oklahoma at bay.
3:12 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, OKLAHOMA. Brkic nails a 26-yard field goal to make it 41-33 Texas with 11:44 left in the game. This is the first time Oklahoma has been within one possession of Texas since it was 14-7 with 9:14 left in the first quarter.
3:11 p.m.: Williams has Haselwood in the back of the end zone, but he air-mails it. That makes it fourth-and-5 from the 9-yard line, and Brkic is coming back out again.
3:09 p.m.: Another big play by Williams, who has a 47-yard gain to Mims out to the Texas 32 on third down. Oklahoma has a ton of momentum right now.

3:09 p.m.: Ovie Oghoufo comes off the edge and nearly sacks Williams, but hits him as he throws the ball to cause an incompletion.
3:07 p.m.: Oklahoma takes over at its 20 after the touchback.
3:06 p.m.: Thompson has Moore open on the post, but leads the receiver just a little too much. That forces a punt on third-and-13.
Third quarter: Texas 41, Oklahoma 30
3:01 p.m.: A Robinson run for no yards ends the third quarter. Texas still has a two-possession lead but Oklahoma has the momentum in the Cotton Bowl.
3:01 p.m.: Snap infraction penalty on Texas makes it second-and 13.
3 p.m.: Texas gets the ball back at its 25 and gets a couple yards from a Robinson first-down run.
2:57 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, OKLAHOMA. Williams bobbles the snap, but collects the ball, steps up in the pocket to avoid the pressure, rolls right and throws between a couple of Texas defenders to hit Mims in the back of the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown.

2:56 p.m.: Oof, Williams had a perfectly thrown back shoulder pass to Haselwood, but he couldn't bring it down in the end zone. That brings up third-and-11 from the 14; this is definitely two-down territory for Oklahoma.
2:54 p.m.: Timeout, Oklahoma (1:52).
2:50 p.m.: Brooks has a 65-yard run all the way down to the Texas 13-yard line, but Jamison rips the ball out; replay seems to show Brooks was down before the ball came out, however, giving Oklahoma first-and-10 with a great shot at a touchdown.
Kennedy Brooks 66 yard run! The ball was ripped out after his knee was down, still an incredible effort play by D'Shawn Jamison! #Sooners #Longhorns pic.twitter.com/EIU54GPaIf

2:50 p.m.: And now Oklahoma takes over at its 22 after a kickoff return. With time winding down, the Sooners should no longer be looking at settling for field goals.
2:46 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, TEXAS. The Longhorns answer with a field goal of their own; Dicker knocks it through from 40 yards out to make it 41-23 Texas with 2:45 left in the third quarter.
2:45 p.m.: Thompson hit Marcus Washington at the goal line, but the receiver's foot was half in the field, half out of bounds. The field goal unit is coming back out.
2:43 p.m.: Thompson to Whittington for 8 yards and a first down at the Oklahoma 26.
2:42 p.m.: Robinson undoes the penalty on the next drive with a huge 33-yard carry out to the Oklahoma 36. He's been great for the Longhorns thus far.
2:41 p.m.: Texas is called for holding, setting up second-and-10 back at the 31. Oklahoma also gets a sideline warning.
2:40 p.m.: Texas gets the ball back at its 24, and Texas airs it out to start the drive. Thompson connects with Worthy for a 17-yard gain to the 41.
2:35 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, OKLAHOMA. Brkic is 3 for 3 on the day after the 29-yard field goal. That makes it a two-possession game again, with Texas leading 38-23 with 6:56 in the third quarter.
2:35 p.m.: Williams looks to be sacked, but manages to throw the ball; it's tipped in the air but somehow caught by Stogner for a 2-yard gain. Here comes Brkic again.
2:33 p.m.: Caleb Williams to Mario Williams for 12 yards out to the 19.
2:31 p.m.: Texas has the play perfectly bottled up inside the box, but Thompson kept it for just enough for a first down. The Sooners are driving at the 31 with a new set of downs.
2:31 p.m.: Keondre Coburn hits Brooks for a half-yard gain, bringing up third-and-1 from the 31.
2:28 p.m.: Oklahoma takes over at the Texas 42 to start. This is a must-score drive for Oklahoma. Brooks goes for 9 yards on the first play down to the Texas 33.
2:24 p.m.: False start makes it third-and-15 from the 3. Thompson throws the ball out of bounds, bringing up fourth down.
2:22 p.m.: Oklahoma is attacking upfield, bringing up third-and-12 early.
2:21 p.m.: Williams makes a great throw to Woods, but the receiver can't control the ball. The punt unit comes out, and Texas will take over at its 7.
2:20 p.m.: Brooks breaks an Overshown tackle in the backyard to make a 3-yard gain. It's third-and-5 from the Oklahoma 47.
2:19 p.m.: Williams is still in and his first play is a 17-yard keeper out to the Sooners 42.
Halftime: Texas 38, Oklahoma 20
1:58 p.m.: Halftime stats:
- Total yards: Texas 345; Oklahoma 291
- First downs: Texas 11; Oklahoma 12
- Third downs: Texas 3 of 6; Oklahoma 4 of 10 (1 of 1 fourth down)

- Penalties: Texas 2 penalties for 5 yards; Oklahoma N/A
- Turnovers: Texas N/A; Oklahoma 2

1:56 p.m.: And Cameron Dicker hits the field goal to make it 38-20 Texas at halftime.
1:55 p.m.: Field goal unit coming out for Texas for a 38-yard attempt.
1:55 p.m.: Timeout, Texas (0:02).
1:55 p.m.: Thompson finds Whittington for 11 yards out to the 20.
1:53 p.m.: Sarkisian being surprisingly lax with time management. He finally takes a timeout with 14 seconds left on third-and-9 from the Oklahoma 31.
1:52 p.m.: Thompson overthrew Worthy on what would have been another huge gain. That brings up second-and-10 with 37 seconds left.
1:51 p.m.: Another big play from Thompson! Worthy makes a diving catch for a 39-yard gain out to the Sooners 32.
1:50 p.m.: Thompson is going to be called for intentional grounding; he never left the pocket. That makes it second-and-21.
1:50 p.m.: Worthy converts third-and-2 with another wide receiver sweep for 7 yards. Texas driving at its 40.
1:48 p.m.: Texas gets the ball back and would love nothing more than a score here. At the very least the Longhorns will want to keep Oklahoma from getting another shot at the end zone; the Sooners have the ball back to start the second half.
1:44 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, OKLAHOMA. Brkic is back and this time hits a 35-yard field goal. It's 35-20 Texas with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter.
1:43 p.m.: D'Shawn Jamison breaks up a would-be touchdown pass to Jadon Haselwood in the end zone, bringing up fourth down.
1:43 p.m.: Oklahoma has it third-and-5 from the 18.
1:41 p.m.: Brooks breaks a tackle at the line of scrimmage and gets the yardage needed to convert third-and-1. Another run gets Oklahoma down to the 18 on second-and-5.
1:39 p.m.: And now here's Gray, running for 17 yards down to the Texas 36.
1:39 p.m.: Riley finds Hall across the middle and connects for a 24-yard gain. First-and-10 Oklahoma out to the Sooners' 49.
1:38 p.m.: Williams, a true freshman, is back out there. Looks like Riley's trying to shake things up.
1:33 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, TEXAS. And then there's the touchdown. Thompson hits Jared Wiley for the 2-yard strike to make it 35-17 Texas with 6:41 left in the second quarter.
1:33 p.m.: That's a HUGE run by Robinson, who takes the ball off right tackle and cuts back across the field, breaking Sooners tackles the whole way down. He's brought down at the 2-yard line.

1:31 p.m.: FUMBLE RECOVERY, TEXAS. A promising Oklahoma drive is stopped in its tracks after Alabama transfer linebacker Ben Davis knocks the ball loose from Rattler in the backfield. It's recovered by, who else, Overshown. Texas takes over at its 44.

1:30 p.m.: Rattler has great protection and finds a wide-open Eric Gray on the sideline for a 14-yard gain to the Texas 44.
1:30 p.m.: More Brooks, and it nets Oklahoma a first down on the third-and-1 attempt. Sooners still driving at their 42.
1:27 p.m.: Brooks getting some big chunk plays early: He has a 17-yard gain on first-and-10, then a 9-yard gain. Oklahoma's already at the 40.
1:26 p.m.: Oklahoma will take over at its 14.
1:25 p.m.: Texas keeps trying to set up slow-developing plays and Oklahoma keeps teeing off on Thompson. They blitz on two consecutive plays to bring up fourth down. Texas will punt from near midfield.
1:24 p.m.: Thompson hits Whittington on the slant for a 16-yard game. Seemingly no issue with his throwing hand.
1:19 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, OKLAHOMA. Gabe Brkic's 39-yard attempt sneaks in through the right upright to make it 28-17 Texas with 12 minutes in the second. Sooners are chipping away.
1:19 p.m.: Rattler's pass is tipped and nearly picked off by Foster. He had Mims early but didn't pull the trigger. That brings out the field goal unit.
1:17 p.m.: Oklahoma resorting to some trickery to open this drive; a double-backward leaves Jeremiah Hall wide open down the sideline for a 48-yard gain. Oklahoma's moving now at the Texas 32.

1:17 p.m.: Uh-oh. Thompson's holding his thumb after hitting his hand. Backup Hudson Card has his helmet on the sidelines.
1:13 p.m.: Pressure from Nik Bonitto is too much, too fast to set up the pass to Robinson. Texas punts, giving Oklahoma the ball at its 26.
1:12 p.m.: Perrion Winfrey gets a 3-yard sack on Thompson, bringing up third-and-10 for Texas.
1:07 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, OKLAHOMA. Situational quarterback Caleb Williams bursts through the line and there's no one left to stop him from taking it the distance. He breaks a tackle behind the line of scrimmage and takes it 66 yards for the score. It's 28-14 Texas with 14:45 left in the second quarter.

1:06 p.m.: Timeout, Texas (15:00).
1:05 p.m.: Oklahoma going for it.
First quarter: Texas 28 Oklahoma 7
1:02 p.m.: Eric Gray gets roughly 9 yards but is spotted just short of the line to gain. That'll do it for the first quarter, giving Riley plenty of time to think about whether he wants to go for this.
12:59 p.m.: Back to the grind for Rattler and Co. Oklahoma desperately needs a score here.
12:58 p.m.: Thompson is now 6 of 8 for 176 yards and three touchdowns on the day. Moore has three of those receptions for 67 yards and two scores.
12:56 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, TEXAS. Thompson connects with Moore once again, this time for 48 yards and a score. It's 28-7 Texas with 1:02 left in the first quarter and we are now in blowout territory.

12:55 p.m.: Texas gets a first down on third-and-1 with a sweep from receiver Jordan Whittington, who takes it 8 yards.
12:53 p.m.: Wow, that's a (wind-aided) 85-yard punt by Turk. That gives Texas the ball at its 20.
12:52 p.m.: Texas is flying to the ball and making life very uncomfortable for Rattler. Alfred Collins works off the edge and gets a coverage sack on Rattler to make it third-and-20. The Sooners will punt from their 15.
12:46 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, TEXAS. Thompson has his second touchdown pass of the day, a 10-yard touchdown to a wide-open Joshua Moore. That makes it 21-7 Texas with 4:39 left in the first quarter.
BOOM! Casey Thompson with a dime to Joshua Moore on a man-beater concept.

12:45 p.m.: Big run there for Robinson, who takes it 15 yards down to the 10. It's first-and-goal Texas.
12:44 p.m.: Thompson looks for the long ball but settles for an intermediate gain from Xavier Worthy with pressure in his face. That's a 26-yard gain down to the Oklahoma 25.
12:43 p.m.: INTERCEPTION, TEXAS. Rattler throws it straight to B.J. Foster; it must have been miscommunication between Rattler, who is clearly frustrated, and tight end Austin Stogner. The Longhorns take over at their 49.

— ✯✯✯✯✯ (@FTBVids_YT) October 9, 2021
12:42 p.m.: Sooners have it at their 33.
12:40 p.m.: A lot of stuff happening on that punt return. Texas' Josh Thompson ran over Oklahoma's Drake Stoops, knocking him into Mims, the returner. The ball hit Thompson's shoulder at the 33, but it's recovered by Texas at the 16. Since no Sooner touched the ball on the return, officials should spot the ball where it first touched Texas.
12:39 p.m.: Thompson dances in the backfield but is eventually brought down for a loss of 4 yards.
12:34 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, OKLAHOMA. Rattler gets Oklahoma on the board with a 2-yard rush off the run-pass option. The defender elects to cover the receiver, allowing him to dive in for the score. It's 14-7 Texas with 9:14 in the first quarter.
12:30 p.m.: It doesn't matter. Brooks gets enough for the first down, and Oklahoma has first-and-goal from the 2. Though it does look as if the play is under review.
12:29 p.m.: It's third-and-3 from the 5-yard line for Oklahoma. Two-down territory?
12:28 p.m: Marvin Mims catches a 13-yard pass to give Oklahoma first-and-10 from the 12-yard line.
12:26 p.m.: Kennedy Brooks needs six Longhorns defenders to bring him down on the 16-yard run. Sooners are moving now at the Texas 30.
12:25 p.m.: Looks like the officials were only reviewing whether Woods caught the pass, not whether he stepped out of bounds. That results in a 29-yard completion on third-and-10, giving the Sooners first-and-10 at the Texas 46.
12:23 p.m.: Oklahoma finally gets a positive play down the sideline, but receiver Michael Woods III may have run out of bounds before catching the pass. The play is under review and if it's overturned it'll be a three-and-out.
12:14 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, TEXAS. Bijan Robinson runs it in from 2 yards out to give Texas a 14-0 lead with 13:07 left in the first.

12:12 p.m.: BLOCKED PUNT, TEXAS. Things go from bad to worse for Oklahoma after Michael Turk's punt was blocked by Overshown. The Longhorns recover at the 3-yard line, setting them up for another huge touchdown early in the first.

12:10 p.m.: Oof, nothing doing for Oklahoma on its first drive — Spencer Rattler was sacked by Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown on third-and-7, bringing up fourth-and-16. Sooners will punt.
12:08 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, TEXAS. Well, that took no time at all. Casey Thompson completed a short pass to Xavier Worthy, who did the rest for a 75-yard score. That makes it 7-0 Texas with 14:46 left in the first quarter.
