Quinn Ewers returned from injury to start in his first Red River Showdown. The mullet was more than up to the challenge.
Texas' star quarterback shredded the Sooners in a 49-0 blowout as the Longhorns won the matchup for the first time since 2018.
Ewers arrived at Texas with plenty of hype as one of the highest-rated recruits of all time after transferring from Ohio State. He had previously gotten Texas off to a hot start against Alabama before he had to leave with a shoulder injury in Week 3.
Here's a look at some of the stats behind Ewers' impressive outing against Oklahoma.

Quinn Ewers vs. Oklahoma, by the numbers
Quinn Ewers passing yards
Ewers had no trouble finding open receivers across the field on Saturday, and by the end of the afternoon, he had racked up 289 passing yards, completing 21 of 31 passes. It is a new single-game best in passing yards for Ewers, whose previous single-game high was 225 yards in the first week of the season.
That total was good for the sixth-most since 2000 in the Red River Showdown, according to Sports Reference's Play Index. Last year, Casey Thompson had the most passing yards for a Texas QB in the rivalry matchup since 2000 as he threw for 388 yards in the 55-48 loss to Oklahoma.
The passing yardage also goes back to Brent Venables' time at Clemson. During his four years as the team's defensive coordinator, only 10 times did a quarterback pass for at least 289 yards.

Quinn Ewers passing touchdowns
In addition to the high yardage, Ewers also hit four passes in the end zone for touchdowns, including two to Ja'Tavion Sanders, one to Xavier Worthy and another to Bijan Robinson.
This outing marked only the second time a Texas quarterback has thrown for more than three touchdowns against Oklahoma since 2000, with Thompson again holding the mark per Play Index at five touchdowns thrown last year.
Ewers' strong game also marked only the third time since the start of the 2020 season that a quarterback had thrown for at least four touchdowns against Oklahoma. It was only the fifth time a quarterback has thrown for at least four touchdowns against Venables since he became Clemson's defensive coordinator.

Texas' largest win against Oklahoma
Texas holds the overall win-loss advantage in the Red River Showdown against the Sooners at 63-50-5. But in the history of the rivalry, the Longhorns have never won in such convincing fashion.
According to Play Index, this is the largest win in series history for Texas. It is also tied for the third-largest win in the series overall.
But that isn't all on Ewers, despite the QB having such a big day. Part of that should be attributed to the defense, which shut out the Sooners. It was only the 10th time Oklahoma has been shut out in the rivalry and the first time since 1965, per Play Index. It's the first time Oklahoma has been shut out since 1998, when it lost 29-0 to Texas A&M, according to Play Index.
