No. 17 Texas A&M fell at home to No. 8 Auburn on Saturday, and it appears former Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin had something to say about it.
A few hours after A&M's 28-20 loss in College Station, Sumlin tweeted a simple eyeballs emoji. It could have been about something completely innocuous and/or unrelated — but A&M fans took it as him throwing shade at his former team.

Sumlin coached Texas A&M from 2012-17, compiling a 51–26 record before being fired by the university. He took over at Arizona in 2018 and remains the coach there now. The Wildcats have a bye this week, which is perhaps why Sumlin had enough free time to fire off his tweet.
Regardless of whether Sumlin subtweeted Texas A&M, Aggies fans sure took it that way. His replies lit up with a few scorchers as soon as the tweet went live.
You lost 59-0 to Bama.

You know the worst part about that game? It felt like you were still coaching it

i'm also going to avoid reading the replies to that tweet. https://t.co/BuNDWErLhZ
There's also a possibility this tweet has something to do with the "Pardon My Take" podcast. The PMT crew has done this before, where it will interview a high-profile person and ask them to tweet out the eyes emoji (they did it with Rob Gronkowski recently, which led to people thinking he was returning to football).
But the timing of Sumlin's tweet would sure be odd, considering Texas A&M's loss Saturday. At the very least, Sumlin would realize how it would look, even if the PMT angle was true. The narrative that this has something to do with the Aggies' loss seems more realistic.
We're sure Sumlin will be asked about this by someone in the media sometime next week.
