Jimbo Fisher and Kevin Sumlin aren’t the only football coaches cashing in at Texas A&M.
A source told Sporting News that Jeff Banks will score a nice payday himself for handling interim head coaching duties for the Aggies in the Belk Bowl against Wake Forest.
Banks will receive $75,000 for the one game he’s on the sideline before Fisher takes the reins. Banks can collect another $25,000 as a bonus if Texas A&M (7-5) defeats the Demon Deacons (7-5).
FIRED, RESIGNED, RETIRED: College coaching changes
The Aggies lured Fisher away from Florida State last week to replace Sumlin with a guaranteed 10-year, $75 million contract. Sumlin is set to receive $10.4 million from Texas A&M as part of his contract buyout.
Banks was promoted from special teams coordinator and tight ends coach to temporarily replace Sumlin after the latter was fired last month once the Aggies completed their regular-season schedule.
