Tennessee and Clemson expected to be playing a day later than Dec. 30.

The Volunteers were one of the highest-ranked teams in college football despite losing to Georgia earlier in the season. Clemson, though losing to Notre Dame on Nov. 5, still had an outside chance of reaching the CFP had it won the ACC with just a single loss.

Then South Carolina came along. The Gamecocks beat Tennessee late in November before ending their season with a victory against Clemson to eliminate them both from CFP contention. Now, Tennessee and Clemson will wrap up their 2022 seasons in the Orange Bowl in Miami.

Both teams will feature different quarterbacks than the ones that led them through much of the season. Clemson benched D.J. Uiagalelei late in the season and opted to turn to Cade Klubnik, who has completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 377 yards and two touchdowns.

Joe Milton will be Tennessee's quarterback after completing 63 percent of his passes for 720 yards with seven touchdowns and no picks after replacing Hendon Hooker, who tore his ACL in the loss to South Carolina.
