Stanford received some good and bad news on Tuesday.

The good news: Cardinal quarterback K.J. Costello, who missed the USC game with a head injury last week, has been cleared to return for the matchup against No. 17 UCF. The bad: Walker Little, a Sporting News preseason All-American, will be out for the remainder of the season with a season-ending surgery. The Cardinal will also likely be without tackle Foster Sarell as well.

WEEK 3 PICKS: Straight up | Against the spread

Costello missed last week after hitting his head on the turf following a tackle from Northwestern's Earnest Brown. He completed 16 of 20 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown in the first half before sustaining the injury.

Little injured his knee in the final possession of that same game. Originally expected to miss time till mid-season, he was withheld from Stanford's 45-20 loss against USC.

Projected as the No. 9 overall player on SN's 2020 NFL Draft big board, Little was a big part of the Cardinal's offensive gameplan. How Stanford moves forward without him on the offensive line could dictate how its 2019 season goes.
