We're halfway through the 2021 college football season, and Sporting News' midseason All-American team featured some interesting debates.

Who is the best quarterback in the FBS right now? SN chose Pitt's Kenny Pickett, a super senior with huge numbers, ahead of Ole Miss' Matt Corral and Coastal Carolina's Grayson McCall. Pickett is averaging 322 passing yards per game with a 70 percent completion rate. He has 21 touchdowns and just one interception for the 5-1 Panthers. There are other quarterbacks looming in the second half, too, in a season that has gone off script from the start.

Some of our SN Preseason All-Americans made the list. That included Texas' Bijan Robinson, Ohio State's Chris Olave and Iowa's Tyler Linderbaum on offense and Oklahoma's Nik Bonnito, Alabama's Will Anderson Jr. and Notre Dame's Kyle Hamilton on defense.

Six schools had two players on our team. That's Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Sporting News is one of five outlets used to determine consensus All-American status, so it's a good idea to stay on this team. With that in mind, our picks for 2021 midseason All-Americans:
