Shea Patterson may be hearing some good news soon.

According to a report by TheWolverine.com, the NCAA is expected to rule the Michigan quarterback immediately eligible for the 2018 season, with a decision potentially coming as soon as Friday.

Patterson transferred from Ole Miss in December and filed an appeal with the NCAA for immediate eligibility on the basis that Ole Miss misled him and several other Rebels about the scope and severity of an NCAA investigation into the program.

Ole Miss formally objected to Patterson's appeal on the basis that the program, its coaches and school administrators did not mislead Patterson or other players.

If the report is true, Patterson will be able to put this part of his career behind him and be focus on competing for Michigan's starting quarterback position. He will still have to overcome a torn PCL suffered in Week 8 of the 2017 season, though.

Patterson, the No. 4 overall player and top-rated pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports' Composite rankings, had 3,139 career passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions during his career at Ole Miss.
