It's never too early to start talking trash, as Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma and FAU quarterback Chris Robison reminded us on Thursday.
Robison, a redshirt freshman, tweeted out a picture of an FAU sign that reads, "BEAT OKLAHOMA." The Owls, which just capped off an 11-win season under first-year coach Lane Kiffin, open the 2018 season against the Sooners on Sept. 1.

Of course, Oklahoma's current quarterback, Baker Mayfield, doesn't take trash talk lying down — even if he won't be on the field for that particular game.
😂😂😂😂... @TheKylerMurray I can't wait to watch this

What makes this story even better is the fact Robison is a former Sooner himself. He was a four-star recruit in the Sooners' 2017 signing class, and even enrolled early in January. But he and walk-on defensive back Ronnie LaRue were arrested on charges of public intoxication in April — which, to be fair, happened after Mayfield faced the same charges in February. Robison was subsequently kicked off the team.
Unfortunately for Robison — or fortunately, depending on how you look at it — it doesn't look like he'll get to start against the Sooners. Redshirt-junior Jason Driskel, who completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 2,247 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, will likely return for his senior season at FAU.
But one thing's for certain: You can expect this game to reach unparalleled levels of hype between now and September.
