It's safe to say Oklahoma assistant Shane Beamer was excited Sunday during his team's 49-31 victory over Houston, and he got a little out of hand celebrating one touchdown.

The tight ends and running backs coach head-butted the Sooners' Jeremiah Hall after he hauled in a 14-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter of the contest.

Unfortunately, Hall still had his helmet on at the time, and the impact of the collision gave Beamer a cut near his left eyebrow that required stitches.

ESPN's Holly Rowe commented on the incident during the Sunday night's broadcast.

“We have not had too many injuries tonight, which is a good sign, but the one injury that has been significant was to Shane Beamer, one of the assistant coaches for Oklahoma. You might notice he has got stitches above his left eyebrow and a pretty good egg on the noggin,” Rowe said.

But his battle scars weren't too serious.

Beamer, a second-year member of Oklahoma's coaching staff and son of former Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer, was back on the sideline after he was stitched up. He made sure he saw the game through to the end.

Oklahoma thrived in Jalen Hurts' debut and appears poised to win plenty of football games this year, and that will likely bring more touchdowns and celebrations.

Beamer will have to use his head moving forward to assist the Sooners' offense, but maybe won't take the literal approach the next time he gets riled up.

If he hasn't learned his lesson, he might need a helmet of his own.
