Nick Saban isn't pleased with the way Alabama played Texas A&M in a 27-19 win on Saturday.

He isn't pleased with the players. And he isn't pleased with the media.

You heard that right.

"We just didn't play as well tonight, and you have to give them a lot of credit for it," Saban said in the postgame news conference. "I'm trying to get our players to listen to me instead of listening to you guys. All that stuff you write about how good we are, all that stuff they hear on ESPN, it's like poison. It's like taking poison.

"Like rat poison."

Ouch. That hurts, coach. It's not like media members were out on the field whispering to players they should take the play off or anything. But if you're going to blame anyone for putting up only 355 yards of offense and three second-half points, the most logical place to start (apart from the players and coaches, of course) is with the media.

We in the sports journalism world will have to be mindful of that next time we want to write anything positive about the Crimson Tide.
