Alabama has the No. 1 recruiting class for the sixth consecutive season.

Surprised?

RECRUITING: Tracking Top 25 recruits | Ranking the No. 1 classes

You shouldn't be, although it wasn't easy this time around for Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide entered the day No. 7 in the 247Sports.com Composite team rankings but as one recruit after another chose the Tide, they slipped into the No. 1 spot when they finished with five-star LB Lyndell 'Mack' Wilson and four-star DE Terrell Hall.

Here's a look at some of day's headlines:

— The nation's No. 1 player DT Rashan Gary committed to Michigan over Clemson on Wednesday, putting the big finishing touch on Jim Harbaugh's second recruiting class in Ann Arbor.

— Charlie Strong has had a good day. The No. 1 safety in the country Brandon Jones chose the Longhorns and four-star LB Erick Fowler switched his commitment from LSU to Texas. Just before noon, four-star LB Jeffrey McCulloch committed to the Longhorns live on ESPN.

HAYES: Big day for Texas, but QB situation remains issue for 2016

— Count out Alabama? Don't be ridiculous. As expected, Nick Saban closed strong. The No. 1 LB in the country, Ben Davis, chose Alabama (as if anyone expected anything different for the Bama legacy), another five-star LB Mack Wilson took the Tide over Georgia, four-star RB Joshua Jacobs picked the Tide, four-star DE Terrell Hall and four-star CB Jared Mayden also committed to Alabama. Don't worry about doing the math: 247Sports.com has the Tide class sitting at No. 1.

— Auburn also did well for itself Wednesday. Early in the day, the Tigers got four-star WR Nate Craig-Myers, along with his brother in three-star DB Jayvaughn Myers. Then, the cherry on top was the nation's No. 9 overall player DT Derrick Brown out of Georgia. (More on Brown to Auburn)

— And chalk this up to something never done before: four-star DB Deontay Anderson commits to Ole Miss after skydiving in a well-done video from Bleacher Report.

— The nation's No. 13 overall player Mecole Hardman Jr. committed to Georgia, giving Kirby Smart a big get in his first recruiting class.
