Mohamed Ibrahim injury update: Minnesota running back injures leg, leaves game vs. Ohio State image

Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim was forced to leave Thursday's game vs. No. 4 Ohio State after suffering a lower-leg injury.

The injury occurred on the last play of the third quarter, a short run right for no gain; a slow-motion replay of the incident seems to suggest that something in his lower left leg popped.

The senior tried limping off the field before falling to the turf. He was helped off by trainers and eventually left the field in a walking boot.

Ibrahim finished with 30 carries for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He sparked two scoring drives with runs of 56 yards (on fourth-and-1 from Minnesota's 29) and 19 yards (for a touchdown).

Unfortunately for him and the Gophers, those could end up being his season totals. Pro Football Focus injury analyst Mario Pilato surmised that he suffered an Achilles injury, which, if true, likely means Ibrahim's 2021 season is over.

Ibrahim, one of college football's top backs in 2021, is coming off a season in which he rushed for 1,076 yards and 15 touchdowns in seven games. For his career, he has 2,840 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns.
