Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy has paid for armed security officers to help protect Stillwater public schools, according to a Tuesday report from the Stillwater (Okla.) News Press.
Gundy has reportedly made a donation of $1,116 a day for the remainder of the school year, estimated at roughly $35,000 in value. Gundy originally offered to pay for security at the 10 Stillwater public schools on March 15 while attending a board of education meeting.

According to a March 15 video originally appearing on NewsOK.com, Gundy asked board members directly whether they had a plan in place for an active shooter situation. Gundy, who has two children in the school system, addressed the board a month after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
"We have protection in our banks, in the airport, in a jewelry store," Gundy told board members. "But we don't have protection in our schools. We can replace all those things, but we can’t replace our kids.
"I’m willing to do whatever. I’ll do whatever it takes to get it started," he said. "I know these things take time. I don't think we have time. I'm saying, like, fast. Like two weeks. Like yesterday."
