Undefeated LSU used Saturday's SEC championship game to make its case for the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers completed a 37-10 beatdown of Georgia behind four touchdown throws from quarterback Joe Burrow, who sewed up his Heisman campaign in style.
The Tigers (13-0) were ranked No. 2 in the most recent CFP ranking, but depending on how No. 1 Ohio State performs against Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship, LSU may leap past the Buckeyes. Georgia (11-2) will not make the Playoff after occupying the No. 4 spot following the regular season.

Burrow was sparkling, completing 28 of his 38 throws for 349 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. He led an offense that put up 37 points on a Bulldogs defense that entered the game allowing 10.4 per game, ranking second in the nation. He also made multiple additions to his "Heisman moment" file, highlighted by an absurd 71-yard pass after escaping pressure in the second half.

LSU set the tone early, scoring 14 points in the first quarter as Georgia missed a field goal attempt on its best scoring chance of the opening period. A missed kick by the Tigers entering halftime kept their lead at 17-3, but the game got out of hand quickly after the break.
In the third quarter, Burrow led two touchdown drives shorter than two minutes to put the game away and keep his team's undefeated record intact. LSU's defense, meanwhile, held Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm in check, limiting him to 20-of-42 passing for 225 yards and one touchdown. It also picked him off twice.
The Tigers now await Saturday's Big Ten championship and Sunday's selection show to learn what seed they will occupy during their first trip to the College Football Playoff.

6:54 p.m.: MISSED FIELD GOAL, Georgia. The Bulldogs nearly had a touchdown, but Stingley made a nice play to break up the pass. Then, Blankenship misses his second of the afternoon. This one from 37 yards. Brutal.

Halftime: LSU 17, Georgia 3

4:12 p.m.: Georgia will start at the 25 after a touchback.
