It's time for a good old Tiger vs. Tiger football game.
Auburn heads down to Death Valley to face LSU in a crucial SEC matchup. Hugh Freeze is looking for his first SEC win this year after losses to Texas A&M and Georgia. Auburn challenged the Dawgs after a lackluster game against the Aggies, but the Tigers are looking as good as expected.
After a bye week, maybe they've learned how to pass and will come out against LSU with a bit more pep in their step. Auburn is last in the SEC in passing with only 781 yards. Freeze and OC Philip Montgomery have historically done well in this aspect, turning Ole Miss and Tulsa around during their first years there.
Brian Kelly's Tigers might need to be a little concerned. While they're still the favorites by a good bit, defense has been the main cause of concern, and they don't have long to fix it. They've got the other part of the game down pat with Jayden Daniels and a duo of star receivers. But as good as Daniels is, LSU can't win a conference title while allowing more than 30 points a game.
To get a chance at the title game and presumably face Georgia again, LSU needs to be perfect here on out against conference opponents. They face Alabama in November for what will likely be the deciding game in the SEC West.
While the Tide have had their own issues this season, if LSU wants to win in Tuscaloosa, its defense needs to step it up. Daniels can't bail out them out again.
