Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore quarterback Josh Jackson will remain with the team, his academic status cleared, according to sources who spoke to the Daily Press (Newport News, Va.).

According to a June 7 report from College Football Saturday's Mike McDaniel, Virginia Tech had suspended Jackson amid concerns of academic issues. That report was compounded by his Jackson's father, Fred, who reportedly told the Times-Dispatch (Richmond, Va.) his son was still on the team, though his status was up in the air.

Jackson led the Hokies to a 9-4 record in 2017, completing 59.6 percent of his throws for 2,991 yards (most among FBS freshmen) and 20 touchdowns (second among freshmen) to nine interceptions.

He also rushed for touchdowns last season and is considered to be a focal point of the Hokies' offense in 2018.
