Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow announced his decision to transfer on Tuesday.

Burrow, a graduate transfer who battled for the starting job left by J.T. Barrett in the spring, announced his decision on Twitter. He will be immediately eligible to play in 2018.

Burrow's decision knocks the quarterback battle down to two for Ohio State with redshirt-sophomore Dwayne Haskins and redshirt-freshman Tate Martell.

Burrow, a former Ohio Mr. Football, served as Barrett's primary backup in 2016 but fell behind the depth chart after suffering a broken hand in fall camp in 2017. He played well in the 2018 spring game on April 14 with 238 yards and two touchdowns — and addressed his feelings on the quarterback battle

"Well I came here to play," Burrow said after the game. "I didn't come here to sit on the bench for four years. I know I'm a pretty good quarterback. I want to play somewhere."
