Arizona State will introduce Herm Edwards as its new head football coach Monday, the university announced Sunday night.
Edwards' hiring was complete pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents, ASU said in a press release.

Edwards will oversee what the university called a New Leadership Model, which it says will be "a collaborative approach to managing the ASU football program that includes sport and administrative divisions, which will operate as distinct, but collective units focused on elevating all aspects of Sun Devil Football."
"In the spirit of innovation, our vision for this program is to have a head coach who serves as a CEO and is the central leader with a collaborative staff around him that will elevate the performance of players and coaches on the field, in the classroom and in our community. Equally important, the head coach will be a dynamic and tireless recruiter," Ray Anderson, ASU's vice president of athletics, said in the release.
It was reported last week that Anderson had chosen Edwards as coach but needed the OK from university president Michael Crow.
Edwards has spent the last eight years as an analyst for ESPN. He was a head coach for eight years in the NFL with the Jets (2001-05) and Chiefs (2006-08). Edwards' last college coaching job was at San Jose State in 1989, where he was defensive backs coach.
Arizona State fired Todd Graham on Nov. 26 after his sixth season at the helm. Graham was 46–31 as the Sun Devils' coach.
