Heisman Trophy odds for 2022: Drake Maye makes move in Week 11 image

Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Tennessee's Hendon Hooker have company.

North Carolina's Drake Maye made another statement in his bid to join the Heisman Trophy discussion in Week 11.

Stroud bolstered his leading odds according to BetMGM with a five-TD performance against Indiana in Week 11, and Hooker bounced back for Tennessee with three TDs against Missouri.

Maye, however, is making a move. He finished 31 of 49 for 448 yards and three TDs in a 36-34 victory against Wake Forest on Saturday. He added 19 carries for 71 yards and a TD. Maye will remain the FBS leader in total offense at 399.6 yards per game, and that might be enough to make a run at Stroud and Hooker in the last three weeks.

This debate promises to heat up, but there are other contenders still in the race. Here is a look at the current Heisman odds, the top potential finalists and need-to-know-items for the Heisman race:

PLAYER SCHOOL ODDS
C.J. Stroud Ohio State +175
Hendon Hooker Tennessee +300
Blake Corum Michigan +600
Caleb Williams USC +800
Bo Nix Oregon +800
Drake Maye North Carolina +1200
Bryce Young Alabama +3300
Max Duggan TCU +4000

Heisman candidates

C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State (+175)

2022 stats: 2,750 passing yards, 67.1%, 34 TDs, 4 INTs

Stroud completed 17 of 28 passing for 295 yards and five TDs in a 56-14 blowout victory against Indiana. Stroud was 8 of 11 after halftime, and he continued a tight combination with Marvin Harrison Jr. (7-155, TD). Stroud should maintain his spot as the odds-on favorite, and the Buckeyes close the season with a trip to Maryland before the main event against No. 3 Michigan on Nov. 26.

Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee (+300)

2022 stats: 2,888 yards, 71.1% 24 TDs, 2 INTs

Hooker passed for 355 yards and three TDs in a 66-24 blowout against Missouri in Week 11; a clean performance that should keep Hooker in the second spot across most Heisman rankings. Hooker added 50 rushing yards and another TD on the ground. Hooker won't have a SEC championship game stage, so he will have to pour on the stats against South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Blake Corum, RB, Michigan (+600)

2022 stats: 227 attempts, 1,349 rushing yards, 5.9 ypc., 17 TDs

Corum handled another high workload with 28 carries for 162 yards and a TD in a 34-3 victory against Nebraska. Corum handled most of the workload with Donovan Edwards limited. Corum has 100 yards or more in seven straight Big Ten games, and he will close the season against a pair of tough run defenses in Illinois and Ohio State.

Caleb Williams, QB, USC (+800)

2022 stats: 3,010 yards, 63.7%, 31 TDs, 2 INT

Williams shook off a first-quarter interception, and he finished 14 of 26 for 268 yards and three TDs in a 55-17 victory against Colorado. It was not a dominant performance, but Williams kept the Trojans in the Pac-12 championship hunt and big-stage games with UCLA and Notre Dame close out the regular season. USC also lost running back Travis Dye for the season, so there is more pressure on Williams to deliver.

Bo Nix, QB, Oregon (+800)

2022 stats: 2,775 passing yards, 73.0%, 24 TDs, 5 INTs, 14 rushing TDs

Nix passed for 280 yards and two TDs and added 59 yards and a TD on the ground, but the Ducks lost 37-34 to Washington in shocking fashion. Nix left briefly with a leg injury, and the downward spiral was quick in the fourth quarter. Nix remains one of the most-surprising success stories of 2022, but this loss will put a serious damper on his Heisman hopes.

Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina (+1200)

2022 stats: 3,412 passing yards, 70.2%, 34 TDs, 3 INTs, 5 rushing TDs

Look for Maye to shoot up the board after another stat-stuffing performance in a victory against Wake Forest. Louisville's Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016, and he is the only player in the CFP era who won the award without reaching the four-team playoff. Maye could be in a similar spot, and he has an opportunity Jackson did not have. Maye gets a shot to prove it in the ACC championship game.

Stetson Bennett, Georgia (+1600)

2022 stats: 2,895 passing yards, 67.8%, 14 TDs, 5 INTs

Bennett likely will hold steady odds after leading Georgia to a return appearance in the SEC championship game. He finished 25 of 37 for 289 yards, three TDs and two interceptions in a 45-19 victory against Mississippi State. He averaged 312.5 passing yards with four TDs and no interceptions and added a pair of rushing TDs in the victories against Oregon and Tennessee and still has that spotlight game against No. 7 LSU in Atlanta.

Bryce Young, QB, Alabama (+3300)

2022 stats: 2,443 passing yards, 63.0%, 22 TDs, 4 INTs

Young guided Alabama to a 30-24 victory against Ole Miss with a solid performance. He finished 21 of 33 for 209 yards, three TDs and no interceptions. Young was not a factor in the running game against Ole Miss, but he still made the clutch plays to get a road victory for the Crimson Tide. Young, the returning Heisman Trophy winner, still has a shot to be a finalist. A repeat win is a long shot at this point, however.

Max Duggan, QB, TCU (+4000)

2022 stats: 2,531 yards, 65.9%, 24 TDs, 2 INTs

Duggan had 124 passing yards and a TD in the 17-10 victory against No. 18 Texas. It was not a blockbuster performance, but he still is the leader on a potential playoff team that remains in control of the Big 12 race. The odds likely will not change much for Duggan heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

When is the Heisman Trophy Ceremony?

The Heisman Trophy will be awarded on Dec. 10, one week after the conference championship games. The ceremony will be televised at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
