College football will get to enjoy its first top-10 matchup of the 2020 season on Saturday in the form of "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry."
No. 4 Georgia will host incoming, seventh-ranked Auburn in a game that stands to be as impactful — if not more — than any in the SEC and College Football Playoff landscape this season. In this 10-game, conference-only campaign, every loss is amplified; and for a rivalry as vicious as Georgia-Auburn, that's saying something.
For Auburn, the path to victory likely lies with sophomore Bo Nix, who completed 30 of 50 passes (!) in this game as a freshman last season, yet only threw for 245 yards and a touchdown. Nix will look to improve on that against a Bulldogs defense that gave up 203 yards against Arkansas in Week 4. And while the gunslinger can still polish his game a little further, he showed enough in a 29-13 win over Kentucky to suggest he can lead this team to victories this year.

Georgia, meanwhile, has a potential quarterback controversy on its hands. The Bulldogs went with D'Wan Mathis as its starter against Arkansas in its season-opener, but went into halftime with a 7-5 deficit to the Razorbacks. Junior Stetson Bennett took over in the second half, completing 20 of 29 passes for 211 yards and two scores; normally that would seem enough for coach Kirby Smart to name him the starter in Game 2; but the team on Monday cleared USC transfer JT Daniels to return from a knee injury that has kept him out to this point.
Regardless of who takes over under center for Georgia, look for him — and Auburn's Nix — to face a stout defense. The Tigers and Bulldogs gave up 13 and 10 points, respectively, in their Week 4 openers.
