Authorities in Texas are investigating the death of former Texas and Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead, according to the Austin-American Statesman. Snead was found dead Saturday night in Austin. He was 32.

Police are investigating, but don't initially suspect foul play. Snead's family in Stephenville, Texas, also confirmed his death.

Snead was the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and No. 37 overall player in the 2006 recruiting class, a major recruiting victory for then-coach Mack Brown. He appeared in eight games as a freshman at Texas in 2006, completing 26 of 49 passes for 371 yards and two touchdowns to two touchdowns. He then transferred to Ole Miss, compiling 5,394 yards and 46 touchdowns to 33 interceptions in 2008-09. He led the Rebels to an 18-8 record.

Snead eventually left college with a year of eligibility remaining, but was not selected in the 2010 NFL Draft. He signed with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, but never played. He eventually signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the AFL, but didn't make the roster.
