Wednesday's First Responder Bowl between No. 25 Boise State (10-3) and Boston College (7-5) has been canceled due to inclement weather.

The game was stopped roughly 10 minutes into the first quarter after lightning struck within eight miles of the Cotton Bowl, which served as host of the game. Boston College had a 7-0 lead heading into the delay, but each successive lightning strike added 30 minutes to it. After an hour and 20 minutes, team and bowl representatives decided not to play. The game will officially be ruled a no contest.

The outcome naturally isn't to anyone's liking — bowl cancellations are an extremely rare occurrence, after all — but that is especially true for the players. That's why Boise State linebacker Curtis Weaver had to make sure he at least got his jersey dirty after the came was canceled.

Update: The First Responder Bowl has announced it will refund tickets or provide free tickets to next year's bowl game. Anyone who bought tickets through Boston College will be given a full refund as well, including complimentary free tickets to any one home event till next December.
