Florida State has answered the question to its months-long question at quarterback.

First-year coach Willie Taggart on Monday named Deondre Francois as the Seminoles' starter against Virginia Tech, according to Tallahasee.com. Francois will take his first snaps since suffering a season-ending patella tendon injury against Alabama in FSU's season opener last year.

He beats out incumbent James Blackman, the true sophomore who stepped in to replace Francois after his injury in 2017.

Francois' sample size from 2017 is small, though he did have an impressive redshirt-freshman campaign in 2016 in which he completed 235 of 400 passes (58.8 percent) for 3,350 yards and 20 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He also added 198 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He led the Seminoles to an Orange Bowl victory over Michigan as well.

Blackman, meanwhile, was thrown into the fire as a true freshman, taking his first true snaps behind an offensive line ravaged by injuries. Still, he led Florida State to a 7-6 record, extending the Seminoles' bowl streak and completing 173 of 297 passes (58.2 percent) for 2,230 yards and 19 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
