Reporter Courtney Roland issues statement explaining disappearance image

Courtney Roland, the Texas A&M Rivals reporter who went missing earlier this month, has issued her first statement since being released from the hospital on Friday.

Roland made national headlines when she was declared missing on Jan. 7 after covering a passing camp the day prior. Her roommate said she sent a text at 12:30 a.m. CT on Sunday, saying she was in her car and being followed by a suspicious man. She was found early Jan. 8, disoriented and confused, underneath a Houston-area overpass.

In her statement, Roland attributed her disappearance to an adverse reaction to a prescribed medication.

Police at the time suggested they didn't expect foul play in the 29-year-old's brief disappearance, alluding to the fact she seemed confused and unaware anyone was looking for her at the time they found her.

Roland came away with only a few bumps and bruises.
