It's Week 3 in college football, the final week before conference play begins in full force, and many top teams scheduled light accordingly.

That means there's no marquee games between top 25 teams, but plenty of room for surprising upsets and trap games.

No. 19 Iowa visits Iowa State in one of two rivalry matchups on the schedule, while games such as No. 20 Washington State vs. Houston and No. 24 USC at BYU are circled as potential upsets.

Live updates, highlights from today's NCAA football games

7:35 p.m.: He shanks it. A stunning ending, and the Sun Devils upset No. 18 Michigan State, 10-7.

7:34 p.m.: But wait, the Spartans had 12 men on the field, and the referees wipe the score off. Michigan State will rekick.

7:31 p.m.: Michigan State answers a Sun Devil touchdown with a game-tying field goal. Six seconds left, so we're likely headed to overtime.

7:23 p.m.: Iowa State fans are getting antsy, with the Cyclones and No. 19 Iowa stuck in their second weather delay.

7:19 p.m.: BYU kicked a field goal to start overtime, and the Cougars get an interception on USC's possession. The No. 24 Trojans lose, 30-27.

7:10 p.m.: No. 24 USC and BYU are headed to OT, and Arizona State is driving late against No. 18 Michigan State, trailing 7-3.

7:04 p.m.: Minnesota takes the lead with 13 seconds left. The Golden Gophers move to 3-0, with nailbiters over South Dakota State, Fresno State and Georgia Southern. A win's a win, as they say.

6:50 p.m.: Things have gone slightly off the rails in Provo.

6:40 p.m.: Georgia Southern pulls ahead of Minnesota late with a couple of wild returns.

6:02 p.m.: Here's an impressive interception from Tulsa vs. Oklahoma State, which the Golden Hurricanes lead, 27-21, midway through the third quarter.

5:54 p.m.: Impressive Mossing from 5-foot-5 Oregon State receiver Champ Flemings.

5:42 p.m. Iowa State came out of the weather delay firing, but we're now under lightning delay again, with the Cyclones up, 7-3.

5:26 p.m.: Will Muschamp is not happy that a potential South Carolina touchdown at the end of the half wasn't even reviewed.

4:54 p.m.: Najee Harris provides what might be the play of the day.

4:46 p.m.: Here's your weekly Hugh Freeze update.

4:35 p.m.: No. 19 Iowa leads Iowa State, 3-0, early in a game that is now in a weather delay.

4:32 p.m.: Pat Narduzzi's explanation for his end-game management is mind-boggling.

4:26 p.m.: No. 24 USC and BYU are tied at 10 entering the second quarter.

4:22 p.m.: South Carolina answers an Alabama touchdown to cut the Crimson Tide lead to 14-10. Think back upon this moment when Alabama wins by 25.

4:11 p.m.: Colorado falls to Air Force, 30-23, in OT. That's all I've got to say about that.

4:00 p.m.: Georgia Tech falls to The Citadel, 27-24, in OT. That's all I've got to say about that.

3:53 p.m.: Pitt put together a real masterpiece in the fourth quarter, attempting a 19-yard field goal while trailing by a touchdown with 4:54 left, missing, and then having a Hail Mary fall incomplete after getting the ball back. Nittany Lions win, 17-10.

3:40 p.m.: After stuffing Maryland on fourth down, Temple shanked a 7-yard punt. But the Terps failed again on fourth-and-goal, and the Owls should knock off the Terps for the second straight year.

3:30 p.m.: Wild-looking play here from Mississippi State and Kansas State.

3:22 p.m.: Temple stuffs Maryland on fourth down for the second time today.

3:11 p.m.: Maryland had inched ahead, but the Owls answer with this cheeky one-handed catch and regain the lead.

3:00 p.m.: Furman recovered an onside kick that would've given the Paladins the ball trailing by a touchdown with about two minutes to play, but it's wiped out on a very questionable penalty. Virginia Tech survives.

2:23 p.m.: The Terps' first lead of the day lasted 19 seconds.

2:20 p.m.: Maryland's offense has remembered how to move the ball, and the Terps take a 9-7 lead midway through the third quarter.

2:03 p.m.: Penn State kicker Jordan Stout just knocked in a 57-yard field goal to set a school record and tie the game. That's really something!

1:52 p.m.: Pitt started slow but now takes a 10-7 lead over Penn State late in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech cuts Furman's lead to 14-10 shortly after halftime.

1:50 p.m.: Here's another, more consequential trick play.

1:37 p.m.: Trailing by 27 in the first half is the perfect time to put some trick plays on film for your future opponents to chew on.

1:13 p.m.: An ACC update:

1:11 p.m.: Now Chris Olave adds to his day, and the Buckeyes have some breathing room.

1:01 p.m.: A predictably slow start to the day, but here's a pretty touchdown from Justin Fields.

12:55 p.m.: Maybe poor fake field goals follow Mike Locksley.

12:51 p.m.: No. 6 Ohio State is outgaining Indiana, 135-59, but only has a 7-3 lead after the first quarter.

12:45 p.m.: Virginia Tech is trailing Furman, 7-3, early in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Penn State and Pitt are underway.

12:15 p.m.: Temple goes up 7-0 on No. 21 Maryland. The Terps are trailing for the first time this year.

12:10 p.m.: No. 13 Penn State and Pitt are delayed for weather.

12:00 p.m.: Georgia's impromptu pink-out in honor of Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson appears to have been a success.
