The year of the quarterback is upon us in college football.
The college game is teeming with hurling talent, some of whom prefer taking control in the pocket, others who yearn to get out in the open. It's perhaps the deepest quarterback class in recent memory, with numerous talents having first-round ability.
And it's a cadre of signal-callers that is well-represented in the country's Top 25. From J.J. McCarthy to Shedeur Sanders, Caleb Williams to Michael Penix Jr., it seems there's a wave of gifted gunslingers capable of leaving opposition defenses cowering in their wake.
Week 4 brings with it a heap of mouth-watering matchups. Many of those contests will be accentuated by eye-catching QB duels; Sanders takes on Bo Nix and the No. 10 Ducks, and Cameron Ward and the No. 21 Cougars meet DJ Uiagelelei and the No. 14 Beavers under the lights, for example.
The richness of the QB position is bound to lose a little luster as the season goes on. So let's enjoy these clashes while defenses are still coming to grips with the notes flowing from under center. Long live the golden arm.
