After Week 7, there are far fewer undefeated teams in college football. Clemson's loss to Syracuse knocked the Tigers out of the No. 2 spot, and now Penn State, Georgia, TCU and Wisconsin remain the only outside challengers to No. 1 Alabama.
Several other high-ranking teams suffered their first losses of the season, too. Washington and Washington State lost to unranked opponents and put a Pac-12 qualifier to the College Football Playoff in doubt. In the AP Poll, Clemson went down to No. 7, Washington sank to No. 12 and Washington State fell to No. 15. Auburn also lost to LSU, which sent Auburn to No. 21 and pushed LSU from unranked to No. 24.
Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Miami (FL) each entered the top ten this week. Memphis claimed a win over last week's No. 25 team Navy and took the No. 25 spot in this week's AP Poll. LSU entered at No. 25 in the Coaches Poll, with Memphis still unranked. Texas A&M entered the Coaches Poll at No. 24, but the Aggies are only the second-highest team receiving votes in the AP Poll.
