The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season answered a few questions, including whether the committee would put more emphasis on significant wins or pure domination. The answer was that it matters who you beat.
Ohio State hasn't looked nearly as dominant as Michigan, but the committee decided that wins over Notre Dame and Penn State are more impressive than anything the Wolverines have had on their schedule this season. The Buckeyes were ranked No. 1, while Michigan earned the No. 3 spot.
That situation will sort itself out when the Wolverines face both Penn State and Ohio State in a span of three weeks, but for now, there is no reason to believe the Buckeyes will be knocked out of the No. 1 spot during Tuesday night's reveal. Will anything else change?
Texas had the closest game of the contenders in Week 10, narrowly surviving against Kansas State after blowing a 20-point lead in a matter of minutes. Meanwhile, Alabama outlasted LSU in a key SEC battle to keep its hopes alive. The only contender that effectively dropped out of the race was Oklahoma, which suffered its second consecutive loss in the final edition of Bedlam.

Projected CFP rankings: Who are the top four teams in college football?
1. Ohio State (9-0)
2. Georgia (9-0)
3. Michigan (9-0)
4. Florida State (9-0)
Next two out:
5. Washington (9-0)
6. Oregon (8-1)
It's much easier to project this week's rankings than it was one week ago, when the committee's thought process was still somewhat of a mystery. Fans discovered last week that the committee placed more emphasis on Ohio State's meaningful wins than Michigan's dominance, which is something to keep in mind going forward.
For now, however, there isn't much to debate. The top six teams in the rankings all won in Week 9, so it would be a surprise if there were any significant changes on Tuesday.
Could a win over USC be enough to move Washington above Florida State? That would be a major point of contention among fans, but knocking off the Trojans in Los Angeles gives the Huskies two impressive victories in their undefeated record.
Here is a closer look at what the rankings could look like on Tuesday night.
