When are the College Football Playoff rankings released today? Time, TV channel for third CFP selection show in 2023 image

The end of the 2023 college football season is near, and the College Football Playoff rankings are becoming more and more important.

The third set for CFP rankings are set to be announced on Tuesday, and fans should not be expecting many changes. All four teams that were at the top of the leaderboard last week remain undefeated, picking up much-needed wins in Week 12 to keep their hopes of a national championship alive.

The committee's decision on the rankings can be hard to predict. While the four programs at the top may be easy to decipher, the order in which the committee ranks them might be controversial. It is all going to depend on how the CFP board credits wins over ranked opponents vs. teams with a weaker schedule.

Projected CFP rankings: Who are the top four teams in college football?

Prior to Week 12 games

1. Ohio State (10-0)
2. Georgia (10-0)
3. Michigan (10-0)
4. Florida State (10-0)

Next two out:

5. Washington (10-0)
6. Oregon (9-1)

Despite the AP and coaches rankings dictating otherwise, the College Football Rankings have favored Ohio State for the No. 1 spot over Michigan and Georgia the last two weeks.

Previously, the Buckeyes were the only one out of the top group to hold wins over ranked opponents, defeating Penn State and Notre Dame. It gave Ohio State the edge over Michigan and Georgia, however, both the Wolverines and the Bulldogs have victories over ranked opponents now. Georgia blew out No. 9 Ole Miss last week, while Michigan picked up a road win over No. 10 Penn State.

Florida State remains behind those three in the rankings, holding just one win over a ranked opponent (No. 16 Duke). The Seminoles have not dominated quite as much as might be needed to receive a more favorable ranking, but their undefeated record in the ACC should be enough to keep them in the top-four.

Right before those four are Washington and Oregon. The Huskies are also undefeated at 10-0, previously beating the Ducks earlier in the year. Washington also has wins over No. 20 USC and just beat No. 18 Utah. Meanwhile, Oregon's loss to Washington is its lone blemish so far this season, and Dan Lanning's team blew out Utah three weeks ago.
