The College Football Playoff rankings are coming soon, and the real debates are coming with them.  

The first of five weekly rankings will be unveiled on Tuesday, Oct. 30. That begins the journey to selecting the four College Football Playoff teams for this season's semifinals, which will be played Dec. 29 at the Capital One Orange Bowl and Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

Here are some need-to-know facts about the 2018 College Football Playoff rankings. 

When are the College Football Playoff rankings released? 

The first set of College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 30. ESPN televises the rankings each week, but the times have yet to be determined and are flexible from week to week. There will be five sets of rankings released every Tuesday before the final rankings on Dec. 2

When is Selection Day for the College Football Playoff? 

Selection Day for the College Football Playoff is Sunday, Dec. 2 — the day after conference championship weekend. That's when the four teams for the 2018 College Football Playoff semifinals will be selected. One semifinal will start at 4 p.m. ET and the other will start at 8 p.m. ET.

Where are this year's CFP semifinals?

This year's College Football Playoff semifinals will be played on Saturday, Dec. 29. One semifinal will be at the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., and the other will be played at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Where is this year's CFP championship?  

The 2019 College Football Playoff championship will be played Monday, Jan. 7, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. on ESPN.
