No. 5 Clemson's home game against 10th-ranked NC State is something of a final entry in their series.
While the Tigers and Wolfpack doubtless will play again — they're scheduled to meet in 2023 — the ACC's decision to go with a 3-5-5 scheduling model in lieu of divisions beginning next season makes this their last meeting as ACC Atlantic foes.
Of course, there's more to this game — and more on the line — than a final victory as divisional opponents. Clemson is aiming to return to the College Football Playoff after missing out in 2021 for the first time since 2014. The Tigers went 10-3 last season, with one of the losses coming to the Wolfpack.
The Tigers have the talent to make it back this season, starting with quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The junior signal-caller overcame a stretch of difficulties last season and early this year to throw 10 touchdowns to one interception this season, including five scores in a 51-45 double-overtime victory over Wake Forest.

NC State is looking for its first 5-0 start since 2018. It's also looking to beat Clemson for two years running for the first time since 2002-03. Like Clemson, the Wolfpack's offense starts with their quarterback: Devin Leary, who has completed 80 of 125 passes (64 percent) for 890 yards and nine touchdowns to two interceptions.
