Cal football is monitoring the air quality in Berkeley ahead of the Bears' Friday game against Washington State, a university spokesman confirmed with The Mercury News.
Cal is set to take on No. 8 Washington State 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Fires have raged in Northern California wine country since Sunday, affecting the air quality of those areas not directly impacted by the flames. And it could have an effect on Friday's game.

NCAA regulations on safe playing conditions state teams should “consider removing sensitive athletes from outdoor practice or competition venues at an AQI over 100. At AQIs of over 150, all athletes should be closely monitored. All athletes should be removed from outdoor practice or competition venues at AQIs of 200 or above.”
The Mercury News reported Berkeley's AQI was 187 on Wednesday.
The spokesman also said Cal has reached out to the Pac-12 Conference about the situation. No decision has been made whether to play the game in Berkeley or move the game to Pullman.
